This private nature reserve was created to protect the land from deforestation. There are 963 hectares of walnut trees, cedars, pine trees and many other species. There are also many different kinds of animals present including deer’s, foxes, squirrels and pumas.
The reserve seeks volunteers to help out with various activities, including fencing (to keep neighbouring livestock out), trail building, sign work, organic gardening, construction projects, and general maintenance. In the afternoons volunteers are free to enjoy the nature reserve or simply lay in a hammock with a good book. The reserve has more than 15km of well marked and maintained trails through forests and rivers, providing the opportunity to see a variety of indigenous flora and fauna. This is a great spot for bird lovers. A delightful way to visit the nature preserve is by horseback, a variety of guided tours on horseback are available.
The project costs £33 per week which includes accommodation and all meals. The food is 100% vegetarian and mostly prepared with fresh and organic products from the garden.
