Many thanks for mentioning FRAME in your excellent article. It is true that people tend to be blinkered about the subject of laboratory animals - whichever side of the fence they are on. FRAME tries to be the middle ground. We believe that the current scale of animal testing is unacceptable but acknowledge the fact that products must be as safe as possible for humans to use.

FRAME’s long-term goal is the total elimination of the need for any laboratory animal procedures, through the development, validation and acceptance of replacement alternative methods.

Until this goal is reached, FRAME supports efforts to reduce the numbers of animals used, through better experimental design and data analysis, and to refine procedures, so that the suffering of any animals that must be used is minimised.
