Samoa and Indonesia have suffered in the last 24 hours after earthquakes – and now a new quake has hit Peru and Bolivia. According to the US Geological Survey, an 5.9 earthquake was recorded at Puerto Acosta, near the shore of Lake Titicaca at 3.30pm local time Wednesday. The quake, which was 60 miles east of Juliaca (Peru) and 100 miles northwest of La Paz (Bolivia) occurred at a depth of 155.5 miles and is believed to have not been felt in the surrounding areas. There are no reports of damage or injuries at this time.
Following the recent earthquakes in Indonesia and the South Pacific we would like to know about any organisations seeking international volunteers. We will happily post details of any rescue/relief work efforts on this blog.
